Spital Park Project

Kidz Avenue started a petition in February 2001 to build a new play park in Spital Park.

After lots of campaigning, and a tremendous show of community spirit, the park building work began, and by July, it was completed and ready for opening. The project was funded by Countryside Agency, Coalfields Regeneration Trust, Wansbeck Sustainable Communities and the North Eastern Co-op. Here's what the area looked like before work began in February 2001.

And by July 2001 the same area was home to a fantastic new play park...

Windsor Quadrangle Garden Project

The Windsor First School, where Kidz Avenue meets, is built with an enclosed quadrangle in the centre. This was a great place to play, but with £15,00 of funding from Wansbeck Sustainable Communities Fund, and donations of equipment from Sure Start, the area has been transformed into a dedicated play garden. The garden opened on 1st July 2003.
